28DCD Day Nine: Deepest Kept Secret(s)

Her biggest secret is that her mother is Evangeline Sigeweald, who fought in the Battle of the Red Ring and was later exiled when, after telling Mede and the Elder Council to fuck themselves, she acted as an adviser of sorts to General Decianus in Hammerfell's resistance.  Years later, Evangeline and her dissident mages remain a thorn in the side of the Thalmor and if word got out that she had a daughter, Elspeth would become a target.  The only people in Skyrim who know her secret are Lydia, Trygve, and Iona.  She wants desperately to tell Onmund, but was told not to by her family's former steward, Nerussa.

Other than that, I can't think of anything.  I thought about some secrets I could give her, but nothing felt organic so I scrapped them.

Something that she keeps to herself, so much so that she doesn't recognize it at times, is how much she needs people—particularly Onmund.  She was raised to be self-reliant in all things.  It remains to be seen how this will affect their relationship going forward.
